Kate and Mike held their wedding at the very unique and special Custard Factory in Birmingham. Although it’s a venue I’ve never had the chance to work at before it’s definitely one I want to be back to as soon as possible! From the first email I had off Kate about the wedding and the location I just couldn’t wait for their day to arrive!
Before heading to the Custard Factory, Kate and Mike stayed at the Hotel du Vin and so our great day started with the morning preparations in the hotel.
The feel of the day was absolutely amazing and it was truly a huge pleasure to share Kate and Mike’s special day with them and I am so happy I was able to get their photos to them on disc before Christmas so they could show all the family, and also take them back home to Kuwait. Those of you who’ve seen the slideshow will have gotten a glimpse at their day but I just had to show you my favourites properly, so here we go…

The bedrooms at the Hotel du Vin are fantastic to work in and I loved the natural window light that was flooding in…

The boys room was a bit less refined it has to be said!

I never did find out quite what had gone on the night before the wedding to break the curtains…

After a few minutes with the boys it was back up to Kate and the girls:

I absolutely love the detail on Kate’s dress:

One very stunning looking bride!

And one very very proud dad!

I love the staircases at the du Vin.

It was then on to the Custard Factory and the Old Library looked absolutely stunning…

As you can see the boys were certainly up for a laugh!!

I think it’s safe to say Mike was a little nervous but oh so happy to see his stunning bride!

Is that a look of approval there?

The Old Library at the Custard Factory is definitely a stunning location for a wedding…

The depth-of-field on this shot of Kate is stunning. I do love the 135 f2 Canon Lens on the Mark II!

That’s what you call a lot of confetti!!

How great is it that you can have literally anyone walking around on the day of your wedding! Definitely a unique and very special venue to hold your wedding at!

The gallery at the Custard Factory was a great location for the drinks ceremony. The quality and range of art on show was absolutely stunning. Very humbling to be surrounded by such fantastic talent…

A bit of foresight meant the little-ones at the wedding had plenty to entertain themselves.

After relaxing with their friends and family I took Kate and Mike outside to make the most of the stunning, and quite quirky, location we had to play with…

They seriously never stopped laughing – awesome!!

I think this one has totally captured Kate and Mike – still don’t know why she decided to bite his nose lol!!

What a great spot for a big group shot:

Mike’s sister had done an incredible job of transforming the Old Library for the wedding breakfast. The tables and the food looked absolutely amazing!

As night descended it was definitely time to party…

But not before the fantastic and very entertaining speeches!

I really do love photographing speeches!!

The best man’s speech definitely brought a few interesting reactions:

As soon as the music started on the night the party never stopped! Awesome!!

All that dancing was obviously thirsty work!!

I had such an amazing time – thank you so much guys! You are also going to be one of my new show albums for 2010 – keep your eyes peeled here for more information!!!
Oh an if anyone is getting married in Birmingham or at the Custard Factory please call me – I love the place!!
