On Sunday I was at the Greek Orthodox Church of St Andrew in Birmingham, photographing the christening of Zoe and Michael’s daughter, Eftihia.

I love photographing Greek Orthodox ceremonies, and especially those of families I’ve known for a few years, and Sunday was no exception.

Here are my highlights from the ceremony, and the start of the reception at the Eaton Lodge in Birmingham.

One of the great things about my job is building relationships with my clients, and especially being part of the milestones in their life; photographing their first child, photographing the christenings and major celebrations, and maybe one day in the future the weddings of their children – that would be pretty special, though I’m sure it would make me feel very old too!!

Last weekend I had the opportunity to catch up with Zoe and Michael whose wedding I photographed back in 2007, on New Years Eve no less!

They’ve recently had their first child Eftihia, and to be asked to document the Greek Orthodox Christening at the Church of St Andrew in Birmingham, where Zoe and Michael were married, was an absolute pleasure, and I had a great afternoon with everyone.

I’ll be sending the photos on to Zoe and Michael later today and share a few highlights with you later in the week, however, for now here is one of my favourites:

Ioannis | Greek Orthodox Christening, Edgbaston || Christening

It’s been a while since I’ve been invited to photograph a Greek Christening, and visiting St Lukes Church in Edgbaston after a few years it was remarkable to see how much time and effort, along with investment, there has been from the Greek Community – St Luke’s really is a beautiful church.

It was a real pleasure to share the afternoon with the family and to document the important moment in Ioannis’ life, and also to document it in the new way I approach things, getting as close to the action as possible, trying to deliver the viewer into the moment…

Hopefully I’ve achieved this with the photos – I certainly know the family are happy. Let me know what you think.

TJ Christening | St Thomas Catholic Church, Penn || Christening

I’ve known TJ since he was a few weeks old when I photographed him along with the proud parents for Christmas cards and presents.

I actually met Georgina and Simon, his parents, back in 2007 when I photographed their wedding on a very wet July at Weston Park, and it was great to see all the families again at the Christening, spending a good bit of time catching up with people as well as capturing everything from the day.

We’re almost certainly going to be putting together a bespoke VisionArt album for the family from the Christening, however, for now here are a few of our favourites from the afternoon:

Yiannaki Christening | Greek Christening, Birmingham || Christening

On Sunday whilst I was winning the Leamington Brass Band Association contest with Langley Band Les and Ste of Barry James Photography photographed a gorgeous, intimate Greek Christening in Birmingham for me.

The enquiry for the Christening at St Andrew’s Church, Birmingham and Moxhull Hall Hotel came in just two weeks ago and it was great to be asked back by the Michael Family to photograph another of their families events after previously photographing two weddings and one Christening in the past 3 years.

The photos have come out absolutely fantastically, Les and Ste really did do an amazing job!
